A rare and unusual early Victorian Scottish Provincial silver Vinaigrette, of shallow rounded rectangular form, the lid set with a cabochon rutilated quartz within a wide chased floral border, reeded sides and plain base. The interior silver gilt hinged grille with floral engraving within decorative border.

Makers mark only 'WL', possibly for Walter Leighton, Dundee, c1837
