An extremely rare Victorian novelty silver and enamel telescopic Propelling Pencil made in the form of a Police Truncheon, the body decorated with a red enamel police badge, a royal crown and the cypher - 'VR', the shaped ribbed handle with attached suspension ring.

Probably by W Thornhill & Co, of Bond Street, London c1880.

Stamped with a registered design mark for 2nd July 1880, and also with the retailers mark of Mawdesley & Son, Liverpool.
