A rare Victorian novelty silver mounted carved ebony Propelling Pencil, the terminal formed as a moorish type dogs head wearing a Tam o'Shanter hat, with pale blue glass eyes. Twist opening mechanism.

Complete with original fitted leather case with gilt Sampson Mordan retailer's lozenge.

By Sampson Mordan & Co, c1873. Also stamped with a diamond registration mark for 5th November 1873.
