An extremely fine quality William IV silver gilt Vinaigrette formed as a Scarab Beetle, the lid inset with a polished and decorated Chrysoprase, red cabochon eyes, mandibular detail and separated legs to the side, the base contoured and with front and back legs attached. The silver gilt grille shaped as the body with pierced decoration of an exotic bird amongst foliage.

Marked: 'I G' to the lid and grille c1835 - 1840.
