17th Century English Silver Pilgrim Flask Scent Bottle - Cupid

A fine late 17th century English silver Scent Bottle made in the form of a pilgrim flask, with attached suspension ring and chains. The face engraved with a depiction of Cupid with his bow and quiver of arrows, holding a heart in his hand, a motto above - 'Pur et Net'. The reverse with foliate scrolls.

The screw-off lid with threaded peg, that is inverted once off and screwed into the internal threaded stopper, which can then be removed (the stoppers on these bottles are often missing).

Unmarked c1690.
