A fine and rare First Period Worcester Sauceboat of fluted form with loop handle and high thumb rest, on oval low footed base, painted in under-glaze blue with the 'Mission Church' pattern, depicting a church style building amidst knarled trees, rocks and foliage and a Chinaman holding a spear in a Sanpan, the interior with an island scene within a paneled border of hatched dots and foliage.

Open crescent mark, c1765.
