An extremely fine quality heavy cast silver and gold novelty telescopic Propelling Pencil made in the form of a wild Boar's head. The pencil with dual opening mechanisms, the handle pulling out and then twisting to extend the pencil itself.

An unidentified makers mark to the suspension ring, possibly by Aikin Lambert & Co, or Edward Todd, New York c1880.
