A rare 19th century novelty silver Propelling Pencil made in the form of a Hip Flask, with attached suspension ring and silver gilt pencil.

The flask engraved with a crest, motto and contemporary initials of the owner.

Unmarked c1880.
Possibly by Sampson Mordan, but more likely American made.
