An early 20th century Chinese Export silver Menu Holder, made in the form of Chinese Dragon on a plinth surmounted by the badge of the Scottish Company of The Shanghai Volunteer Corps (SVC). Hinged easel feet.

The Shanghai Volunteer Corps (SVC) was a multinational militia governed by the Shanghai Municipal Council to protect the city's foreign concessions. Among its multinational units was the Scottish Company ("Shanghai Scottish"), a prominent expatriate regiment that defended the International Settlement until the Corps was disbanded during World War II in 1942.
