A very scarce and early Victorian novelty silver Slider Pencil, modelled in the form of a hand with blue enamel ring on the index finger, applied decoration to the cuff, with attached suspension ring.
Stamped S. Mordan Aug 3 1842 and with registered design number 1390.
By Sampson Mordan c1842.
These dated hand / gauntlet pencils along with the Percussion Pistols (dated 1840) are generally considered to be amongst the first novelty silver pencils produced by Mordan.
