A nice quality Edwardian French silver gilt mounted hand mirror, the reverse with very finely painted pastoral scene depicting two lovers, probably after Francois Boucher, the silver gilt frame with reed and ribbon border and hollow urn terminal. Complete with original silk and velvet lined fitted leather retailers case for Zimmerman, 98 Jermyn Street, S.W.
Struck with import marks for Aron Brothers, London, 1901.
François Boucher was a French painter, draughtsman and etcher, who worked in the Rococo style. Boucher is known for his idyllic and voluptuous paintings on classical themes, decorative allegories, and pastoral scenes. He was perhaps the most celebrated painter and decorative artist of the 18th century.
