Photo 1 of 11

An early 20th century Scottish silver Quaich of plain circular form, the pierced lug handles with Celtic decoration, the interior of the bowl engraved - "SQUAB AS'I".

Edinburgh, 1904. The makers mark over-struck by another and indecipherable.

"SQUAB AS'I" is a Gaelic phrase, that translates as “Sweep it up.” Often used as a toast in the Highlands of Scotland, the expression means drink heartily, with gusto.
