The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders or 79th (The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders) Regiment of Foot was a line infantry regiment of the British Army, raised in 1793. The 79th Regiment of Foot (Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders) earned the "EGYPT" honorific with a Sphinx badge for service in the 1801 campaign against French forces. Later, the regiment played a key role in the 1882 Anglo-Egyptian War, fighting in the Battle of Tel-el-Kebir and the Nile Campaign.

The 1st Battalion travelled to South Africa in March 1900 and fought in the Second Boer War.
