A fine George III silver Vinaigrette of oval or navette shape with stand-away hinge, the base, sides and lid with very crisp bright-cut and prick-dot engraved decoration. The silver gilt interior with pierced grille depicting a Knights helmet on a plinth between flags and battle-axes.

Probably made to commemorate a Battle or Treaty of the period.
