Photo 1 of 17

A very rare George III novelty silver twin compartment Snuff Box, made in the form of a high-heeled Shoe, with bright-cut engraved decoration to simulate stitching and floral decoration, two hinged lids including one to a smaller compartment in the heel, the larger lid to the top engraved with contemporary conjoined script initials. Silver gilt interiors.

Makers mark 'WW', possibly for Walter Williams, London, 1807.

This form of Shoe Box in silver is quite unusual at this date, although many were produced in treen of a similar design. Most silver examples are later.
