Curacao (an orange based liqueur) was obviously popular in the early 19th century, at least with the Prince Regent (later to become George IV) as he is depicted in Robert Cruikshank's cartoon ""Highlife Below Stairs"". (See photo number 6) A glass Decanter on the table is toppling over and it carries a CURACAO label.
""The Regent, very drunk, sups in the kitchen at the Pavilion, at a table close to the fire ..."" engraving, coloured. 1819 by Robert Cruikshank, 1789-1856. Depicts the Prince Regent (Later King George IV of England).
