Irish Wine Label Burgundy

John Kavanagh, Dublin c1785
Photo 1 of 7

A rare 18th century Irish silver Wine Label of crescent form with bright cut wriggle work border, incised for BURGUNDY and typical of Irish labels, not centred.

By J K of Dublin, c1785 (pre 1787 Harp and Hibernia marks). The unattributed maker J K in a serrated punch is probably John Kavanagh or James Keating.

In good condition with no damage or repair, just a minor flaw to the reverse where some silver has been removed for testing.

49 mm x 40 mm. 10 grams.
