A very rare Victorian novelty silver seven-drawer telescopic Propelling Pencil made in the form of a Plumb Bob or Spinning Top, each section graduated to fit one inside the other when opened or closed. The circular body with attached suspension ring and chased decoration depicting flowers and thistles.

Stamped with a diamond registration mark.

This is the largest and rarest of the three known sizes of this novelty pencil and has seven telescopic drawers rather than six on the smaller sizes. It also has the premium chased decoration rather than the plain reeded form.
