		A damaged, but extremely rare Lowestoft oval Butter Tub with crisp “Hughes type” moulding, painted in the mirror shaped reserves in underglaze blue with Chinese lakeside scenes including a fisherman on an island, the interior with a large floral spray. c1765. Provenance: The Bella Kleinman Collection, exhibited in New York in 2001 – No 98. Homage to Bernard Watney.
Painters mark to underside of rim. The Tub cracked right through with a 19th century rivet repair.
