An extremely rare and possibly unique 18th century Provincial silver Wine Label, of large scroll form with pierced zigzag bright cut engraved border and small chased floral designs to the corners. Engraved for PORT.

Maker's mark only T W in cursive joined letters, for Thomas Wigan, a Bristol goldsmith who entered his mark in London 1763. See Grimwade No 3459. See Wine Labels 1730–2003 by John Salter, page 222 and 223, fig 740. Where this actual label is illustrated.

In fair condition with no damage or repair, although there is some wear to the engraving.
