Unusual Large Edwardian Silver Heavy Duty Vesta Box / Gaming / Passenger Counter

Horton & Allday of Birmingham 1907
Photo 1 of 10

A very unusual and large Edwardian silver heavy duty Vesta Box with slow match or taper tube to one side sealed by a stopper on a chain. Two manually operated push button counter devices (one inside the cover) operating rotating counter dials, one for tens and one for units, the numbers appearing in oval apertures to one side. The front engraved with initials 'S.S'. Possibly a game counter for shot birds or perhaps a device for counting passengers boarding a ship.
