Victorian Novelty Silver & Enamel Envelope Form Cigarette Case Mrs Paterson

A fine quality Victorian novelty silver and enamel Cigarette Case made in the form of an envelope, of curved rounded rectangular form, the cover enameled with the name and address of 'Mrs Paterson, Walcote, Leamington.' and with a Victorian cancelled one penny brown lilac stamp and a Ambleside post mark for April 23rd 1887. The reverse with a similar post mark and the name: Rydal Hall, Ambleside. Sprung hinged opening mechanism and silver gilt interior.

Rydal Hall is a large detached house on the outskirts of the village of Rydal, Cumbria, in the English Lake District. It has an early nineteenth-century front facade, but includes some earlier fabric.
