A fine quality late 19th century American patented sterling silver double Stamp Case of envelope form, the front enameled with a red George Washington 2 cents stamp, franked - " New York 1892" and engraved with the name and address - "Dr Pershing, Lawrence, Long Island". The reverse enameled with a received mark for 12.25.91. The silver gilt interior stamped: STERLING PAT JUNE 24 90.

Dr. Edward ("Ned") Hamilton Pershing attened public schools in Pottsville, Pa., graduated from Princeton University in 1886, received a medical degree from the College of Phycians and Surgeons of New Yor City in 1892, served in a surgery intership , dedades practicing medicine in Lawerence and Woodmere, Long Island, New York. He was married and spent time vacationing in Hawaii. He retired to New Hope, Pa.
