An extremely rare and unusual Victorian silver combined sliding Propelling Pencil, Pen and Address Stamp, belonging to a Gloucestershire farmer. The body with deep foliate scroll engraved decoration and with a cartouche engraved with the script initials - 'JY' (for Jacob Young). The rubber address stamp housed within a hinged sprung compartment and reading as follows;

"JACOB YOUNG, EARTHCOTT GREEN FARM, WINTERBOURNE, GLO'"".

From the Gloucestershire County Records Office:- ""Jacob Young of Earthcott Green Farm appears in the Kelly Trade Directory from 1879 - 1894. In 1870 the farm was in the name of Mrs Young. We can assume therefore that the pen/pencil is earlier than 1894.
