A fine quality and rare Victorian silver gilt Vinaigrette of shaped rectangular form, the base and sides with foliate scroll engraving and a vacant cartouche, the lid with inserted repousse plaque struck in high relief with the Martyrs' Memorial, Oxford, with the Church of St Mary Magdalen in the background within an anaglyptic frame. Silver gilt grille pierced with a flower head and scrolls.

The Martyrs' Memorial is a stone monument positioned at the intersection of St Giles', Magdalen Street and Beaumont Street, to the west of Balliol College, Oxford, England. It commemorates the 16th-century Oxford Martyrs.
