An unusual Victorian silver Trick Opening Vesta Case of rounded rectangular form, a circular plaque to the lid engraved with a crest of an heraldic bird. This can be slid upwards to release the sprung opening catch. Silver gilt interior and a recess to one side to hold the striker.

By Wright & Davies, London, 1889. Also stamped with retailers mark for Bracher & Sydenham, Reading.
