A good William IV silver double-sided castle-top Card Case of rectangular form, both sides chased and embossed with foliate scrolls above and below high relief scenes depicting Abbotsford House and Newstead Abbey. Hinged lid and engraved presentation initials to lid and one side.

Abbotsford and Newstead Abbey is a classic American adventure story by Washington Irving. Washington Irving (April 3, 1783 – November 28, 1859) was an American author, essayist, biographer, historian, and diplomat of the early 19th century. He is best known for his short stories "Rip Van Winkle" (1819) and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" (1820).
