A very fine and rare George III cast silver Wine Label of pierced oval form, the border of vine leaves and grapes, surmounted by a figure of cupid with bow and arrow, a smiling Bacchus mask head below, the oval name plate incised and niello filled for BRONTE, a motto above and a crest below. The motto: “ERYR ERYROD ERYRI” (The Eagle of the Eagles of North Wales). The Crest: An Eagle’s head with two necks couped proper, for the family of OWEN, Worcestershire. The original pierced name has probably been replaced with the title Bronte on a solid panel, otherwise in fine condition with no damage or repair.
